How To Clean Air Conditioner In An Effective Way?

Air conditioners are now an important part of every household. With temperatures soaring during summers, there is an ever-growing demand for Air conditioners worldwide. Now that you have bought an air conditioner, what about next? Do you need to clean the air conditioner in an effective way? If yes, then how long must each cleaning take? This blog will answer all these questions.

What are the cleaning parts?

Air conditioners have many detachable parts for cleaning purposes, such as Air filters and air ducts. These major components must be kept clean for the air conditioner to function effectively.

Cleaning Air Filters

Parts to be cleaned for effective functioning:

  • Filters
  • Air ducts
  • Condensate drain
  • Outdoor vegetation

Cleaning Air Filters

Consider you bought an AC, and for a few weeks, it worked amazingly. However, gradually, it’s not working the same and does not cool at the speed it used to. Is it gone faulty? Should I claim a warranty? NO! Clean the air filters! Air filters are the most important component of your AC because they clean the air before passing it into your room, and just like any other filter, they get clogged.

Now, why should we clean the air filter? Well, here is the answer: the cleaner the air filter, the more efficient the cooling, which means more savings because the Air conditioner will not push hard to maintain the airflow. Secondly, a dirty air filter may also reduce the life span of your whole equipment, therefore it is quite imperative to clean the air filter now and then.

Air Ducts

Air ducts are the most neglected pieces in the Air conditioner infirmary. Since they are very long and extend over the building, they are quite hard to clean. However, if you do not clean your ducting, you risk your Air conditioner’s longevity again.

Since it requires help from professionals, you must schedule your duct cleaning before the start of the summer season and also when the season ends. This way, your ducts will always be clean from potential bacteria and germs that may develop from time to time.

Condensate Drains

The tube that takes the moisture from your unit is called the condenser drain line. It will be near your outdoor unit and have a vent for cleaning products. Mould, algae, mildew, mineral deposits, and other things can grow in this pipe because it always gets wet. So, it can get stuck if you don’t clean it often.

Outdoor Vegetation

Many people hide their outdoor units by planting shrubs and other plants next to them. If your plants are close to your unit, remember to regularly trim them to keep dirt and other things from getting inside.
